Coollllddddd =(

Day 19 24th Sept 2009 Thursday

Work

Today stayed in class the whole day to learn about lighting system in aircraft as well as circuit analysis in an aircraft. Basically it is a very theoretical day. Suppose to have a practical session, but it was used to mark our log book. Hahas.. every one was given an A grade. But our employer advice some of them to write more in their log book, saying he would not be so generous next time =X

Zap Zap

Went to a photocopy shop to zap the working schedule for the whole group. Each paper cost RMB 10 cent. Consider rather cheap in SG =X but their paper quality really is made in china and the machine speed is fabulous =X hahas.. however, the shop owner is very friendly =)

It’s getting colder…

Finally my thermal wear aka “long John” is put to use. Hahas.. the weather at night is getting colder and for the past few mornings have been shivering when I wake up. Guess what? Even my blanket and pillow tend to turn cold too! some times is just too cold that I really don’t feel like waking up =S

More and More Food...

Day 18 23rd Sept 2009 Wed

Work

Revised about wire locking in the classroom. Shortly after, we proceed to the hangar again. This time, we learnt the different ways of tying knots on the cables in aircraft. This is something that I’ll also be learning in the coming semester. It gave me quite a head start so that I would not be so lost in the coming semester.

Yeah! I managed to get into this tall plane under the guidance of a techinician there. The guys were helping me to figure out how to get in until the technician just walk by, said that logical movement that I should take.

Food, Food and more food!

This time after dinner we went to another supermarket to stock up food once again. As I still have sufficient food left plus a report for my officer, I didn’t want to join them. However, the whole group was going, so as not to trouble them and be a wet blanket, I decided to go with them.

In the end, my room mate and I bought more food again! But I managed to get myself a johnson’s baby lotion as my skin is very dry and peeling. Hahas! Managed to find my beloved distilled water in the supermarket.

Previously I was complaining how they sell lots of mineral water but not distilled water. Luckily there is this one pathetic brand selling but it is a familiar brand. Watsons brand de. It can be found in Singapore too! but so far I found no powder yet! Haiz. Trying to ration my powder until the package arrive on the 28th. Hahas.

Look at the food we have bought again!

In the end, I spent about RMB 40 after going dutch with my room mate =S that’s the problem of being unable to resist temptation and one of the reason why I didn’t want to go to the supermarket with them today.

The Yin and The Yang

Day 17 22nd Sept 2009 Tuesday

Work

Started off the day in the workplace by a recap of wire locking that we had learnt yesterday and then the lecture went on to Low Range Radio Altimeter (LRRA) . After which we were brought to the hangar again to observe the location of the wire locking in different part of the aircraft. Talked with my lecturer with regards to the height of the pilot. He tell me in this company, there is no standard height as the chairs in this these planes are adjustable! Oh! So shiok!

After lunch, another lecturer talked to us about 3 waves generator. We understand rather well as we had all learnt in the last semester. after which, he brought to the workplace and let us try out the generator.

Hungry… Very Hungry

Maybe it’s the weather cold or my stomach system went wrong, I was feeling super hungry after dinner today. So the group of us walked to the KFC again to buy more food =S I went to try out their shrimp burger that cost around RMB 12.5. The prawns inside the burger were all very fresh! Very delicious burger indeed! Yummy!

Oh ya, not forgetting we had a very special dish today. The photo of this dish caught my eye the second time I dine in this restaurant, didn’t expect that we are able to try it out. Below is the dish.

Cool right? We call this the Ying Yang Dish within our group. At first no one dare to drink this soup but finally one guy break this hospitality and started taking one bowl of it. The rest followed. Hahas. It turned out to live up to its expectation as pictured! The black stuff is the seaweed, while the white one is the egg.

October Babies =)

Day 16 21st Sept 2009 Monday

3rd week in the company

Today we learnt about the GPS, global positioning system of the aircraft. I’m sure many of you guys have heard of this system before. They are now embedded in hand phones or inside the car for tracking. While this system is popular among people and make things easier for us, ironically, the working system behind is very complicated.

I also learnt about wire locking which I’ll be learning next semester. So today gave me a rough idea of what to embrace for the coming semester. This wire locking is to lock the electric component, it acts like a fastener. It is normally used in fast moving objects like racing cars and aircrafts.

In the noon, we were introduced to this DC to AC converter. As our officer has requested for more practical sessions, we were allowed to go to the working area to look at this converter. We were also given permission to unscrew the converter and observe the internal structures of it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

We celebrated 3 of our group members’ birthday after dinner. We went to get the pre-ordered cake from the same cake shop (remember the big cake in my earlier post?). The bakery shop even gave us party hats, quite cute though. Hahas. It was a chocolate cake. It taste heavenly sia.. guess what? Normally I don’t take the whip cream but the whip cream in this cake is like ice cream like that. Though I know it is very sinful, I still couldn’t resist the temptation =X then it was whip cream fight! Find it rather wasteful but yup, I didn’t want to spoil the fun so I stood there and watch. But they caught me and smear it on my face and hand. Wah.. sian! Hahas.

Beijing 3 day 2 night tour

Towards the end of this trip, we are given the option to leave Jiamusi early and tour around Beijing. Reason being that we are going to depart from Beijing Airport again, so the tour agent decided to give us this option of going to Beijing early and play for about 2 days. The whole package cost around sing dollar S$280. This package includes all three meals, our stay in a 4 star hotel in Beijing, touring around Beijing attractions like great wall and one day of playing in their biggest theme park, like the sunway lagoon. So looking forward to it =P hahas.

The Streets of Jiamusi

Day 15 20th Sept 2009

I’m walking on the street

At 10.30 am we set off from our hotel and walked to the shopping malls. Hope you guys still remember that in my previous post that I have mentioned about shopping malls closing at eight. However, they compensate for it by opening their shopping malls at 8am in the morning.

Being the last to wake up in the group, I had to rush everything through and my breakfast for this morning was a piece of snicker bars. Oh! I simply love this chocolate since YJ, was actually glad that I skipped today’s restaurant’s breakfast for this lovely bar =X.

So the 12 of us spilt into 3 groups. I was with Jane and Sue-Ann. We shopped around the basement of the shopping mall. It is like bugis street with lots of clothes at rather cheap price. Then I tried out my bargaining skills that I’ve practiced from the past few overseas trips over the years. Still not bad. Hahas. From 210 bargained to 160. I believe that if I can be more mean and harsh, it can be even lower. Hahas. Never mind, so I take it as a warm up, there are 4 more weeks left for me to brush up. Hehe.

The underground ‘bugis street’ is very big and it actually links up 5 to 6 blocks of shopping malls! This is cool! However, after enjoying the long walk, we have to walk back to the initial shopping mall that we first stepped in. 所谓的先甜后苦。 Bought for myself a “kappa” track pants, sing dollar $6, which I hope to be able to use it for kick box lessons soon when I return from SG. I will be going back to buy a few more piece tomorrow with the group after work, it is really cheap and comfy.

12.30pm was our lunch time! All of us gathered outside the KFC again. Initially they wanted KFC to settle for their lunch, but some of us suggested we go try out the food court at the top level. In the end, it was decided by tossing a coin and the result, see my photos. Hahas.

The foodcourt was quite cool. It is like a normal Singapore foodcourt but just that there is this cashier that we have to go first to purchase this pre-paid card. With this card, we can go to any stall and order our food and the value is deducted from the pre-paid card. Majority of their food look very appealing and is rather cheap plus their servings are very big! One set of meal, which consist of rice, veggie and meat cost around RMB 15 bucks which is around Singapore $3. With that great servings it is really worth it.

After lunch, we went to their cinema, ticketing office to check out their movie ticket price. It cost just around Singapore’s movie ticket. But their popcorn, snacks and drinks are super cheap!

Next would be the guys favorite Arcade!

They have this time crisis 3, house of dead and this basketball ring to shoot. All these game cost a few cents of Singapore dollar each round. For RMB 10, I can exchange for 40 tokens. Each token cost RMB 50 cents. You guys may be wondering why it is 40 tokens and not 20 right? hahas. Because on top of that, for every token there will be one additional token given. The cost was rather cheap but the games there are very limited. I was looking out for Daytona 1 but there were no such machine. But they have “outrun”. The arcade is quite pathetic actually but given the cost, I guess I still can understand.

My internet Cable is Fixed!

Want to hao lian here for a while. Hahas.. quite BHB here but never mind! =P

Okie, since the first day my room internet cable is not functioning well and I have to rely on the erratic wireless provided by one of the member in this trip’s group. Subsequently, the internet cable cannot be used at all. The day before I was pissed off that I finally reported this situation to the staff. As it was rather late and the technician has went home, the staff told us to wait for him to help us check out the cable yesterday. But alas! The techinician could not fix our problem so he told us to wait till today where their professionals will come down solve for us.

Guess what? Early in the morning at 7am today, this helpful professional came and knock on our door! 7am leh! I totally could not hear the knocking but luckily my room mate was able. This is because the two of us actually slept at 3am. Was super super tired but because there is stranger in my room, I decided to wake up. However the man could not help us solve the problem and he told us to wait while he got another man to help us. So off he went, and the two of us went back to sleep as we were very tired. At 8am, another knocking and again, only my partner heard it. This time two man came in and they started to check out the internet cable. While investigating for quite some time, I finally open my mouth and tell them that I suspect that it is one of the small cables that broke off. Told the man which cable it was and he found he and agreed with me! see, hui yin pro right =P hahas. So they brought another internet cable, connect it up and ta-dang! The cable is finally fixed! For now, we just need to buy an internet cable port so that my partner and I can use it at the same time =D

The Green World =)

Day 14 19th Sept 2009 Sat

JUST SO GREEN!

Took a 3 hr ride from our hotel to the mountain top. The ride was super bumpy but I really enjoyed the ride. Cause for me, I really love taking long bus ride and enjoying the sceneries outside. I took abt 100 plus photos from the bus.. hahas.. I couldn’t help it.. I simply love the greeneries I saw.. GREEN is the colour! Hahas.. and the new camera my dad is damn good! The bus ride was bumpy, yet the camera is able to produce such good image for me! Thanks Dad! =D I’m starting to love this camera. Maybe will start reading the manual book to make good use of the function inside there. No kidding hor, I actually brought the manual book with me to the plane =P

This the small view of the mountain that we are travelling.

After one hour, we finally enter the mountain bottom.

The road was narrow, winding, steep and bumpy. Other than stalling his engine a few times.. which is really unavoidable as the mountain is rather steep and the bus is heavy with about 50 people, I must say the driver skill is damn pro! =D the ride from mountain bottom to mountain top is about 2 hours plus itself. So it is a super long journey.

Finally we reach the mountaintop! Everyone rush for the toilet aka茅厕。 It is then we experience the true china toilet! For guys and girls there are no doors! Hahas.. lucky for girls there are four of us. But I dare not go in sia.. I held my bladder till I return to my hotel. The situation really jia lat.. inside a lot of flies and it was damn smelly… two of the girls went in together cause they cannot hold… one of them threw up after coming out.. guess it must be damn horrid. Sorry guys, can’t tell u much here.. cause I didn’t even dare to step into the toilet in the first place. I stood out side already ta-bu-leh-ta-han!

There is this bridge where we can cross.. but the guys all playfully shake the wooden bridge till very violent.. that my leg almost gave way.. in the end I gave up walking the wooden bridge and detour round it on the ground. Guess I’m the only one who did that.. I hum bah. Hahas. But if they didn’t shake so violently, maybe I will bah. But still wah.. I cannot imagine last time people cross this kind of bridge over the deep wide valley. So scary sia! I over small pond jiu scare liao.. what more abt them? 佩服他们!

Walked a bit further up, we saw this play ground and everyone of us started playing happily there.

Can u guys imagine this? We were given 2 hours to tour around.. in the end we spent 1hr and 15 mins playing in the playground instead of exploring the famous trees of this nature reserve. Have to admit I really enjoyed myself to the max. got sabo to sit solo in tt red swing and kana pushed forcefully by the few muscular guys. Was scare initially, but I quite enjoyed it after swinging for quite some time =X

Went to visit the oldest tree of this nature reserve. Pine tree I guess cause it is called 红松树。=X the one tied in red ribbon. Wanna to explore more, but we only got 45 minutes to explore since we have spent most of the time playing at the playground. Hahas..picked up some maple leaves along the way. Really love the reddish maple leaves. = )

After which we depart from the mountain top.. along the way we saw this shao lin shi there.. but everyone was tired to go down of the bus to visit the temple.. quite disappointed sia that I can’t get to see.. wanna check out their shao lin wu shu =((( oh well.. hopefully next time I can check it out when I get to go china again =)

So yup, took 2 hrs plus to reach mountain bottom and another hour to reach our hotel. In the bus ride, I really enjoyed myself enjoying the big green nature. It is a very wonderful, amazing creation/art piece. Couldn’t help but I keep on snapping away with the new camera..cox it’s anti shake is very good! =) took a total of 50 plus of the scenery itself I think =S I love the GREENERY, I so love it. Hahas.

Bye Bye Lecturer

Day 13 17th Sept 2009 Fri

Today marks the end of the second week of attachment. Have to admit that as we go further in dept into this line, it is becoming more challenging.. but then it is fun when you master all the indicators inside the cockpitActually many of those taking this diploma or degree went on to sign up as pilots, cause what we are learning are also what the pilots are learning. Just that we must learn to repair the aircraft once something faulty happens in the aircraft. Challenging as well as a heavy responsible job.. but once the pilot is able to fly the plane and reach the final destination.. I guess that kind of satisfaction feeling is indescribable. Hahas.. but I don’t know this feeling yet unless I get to have this chance a few years down the road.

FRUIT CAKE!

Saliva drooling? Hahas.. we ordered this big cake for a mini celebration for our employer as well as our SP lecturer. This cake cost us RMB 510 and it is baked freshly in the morning before we collect it at 8.30am. To us Singaporeans we find the cake’s price reasonable but for the many locals there they find it very expensive and think that we are scam.

See how heavy the cake is? Hahas.. That requires two girls to carry back to the hotel from the bakery shop.

The guy in blue wind breaker is one of my employers, while the man in blue long sleeve is my sp officer in charge. A very good and caring lecturer with lots of experience on aircrafts. With him around for the past few days, most of our problems were solved. The mini celebration is for him before he leave our group to visit another group in Tianjin. Wishing him a safe journey there! =)

Rainy Day

Day 12 17th Sept 2009 Thurs

YOUR NOSE IS DROPPING

It was freezing cold this morning! Before we go to our workplace, many of us wrap up like rice dumplings like that, especially for those people who cannot stand cold. Finally, we talk there is smoke coming out and everyone started playing by blowing our mouth.

And there this weather question that everyone is asking each other.. “is your nose dropping?”

I guess the degree for today is less than 3 degrees. Very cold.

WorK

Learnt about the traffic control system, Traffic collision system. As the topic is getting harder to understand, many of us became very restless. Luckily for these few days, our officer will be with us, so he was there to help translate the Chinese mechanical terms.

As usual in the noon time after lunch, we proceed to hangar for lessons. Learnt about the different aircraft’s engines, motor and generator. Heard that there will be a test at the end of this trip =S Gosh.. who says people who go overseas for attachment are for leisure sia! There’s actually a lot to learn and yup, even though we have to pay for this attachment, I feel that when we return to SG, our knowledge on aircrafts will definitely improve tremendously =X

Wish Granted =)

Day 11 16th Sept 2009 Wed

Today’s work or rather lesson is more fun! We went to the hangar and our lecturer explained the purpose and uses of the different indicators in the cockpit.

Hahas..needless to say, most of us were snapping photos.

Hahas… finally I get to post as pilot! One of my silly wishes since long time ago and today, I finally managed to post as pilot hui yin =P hahas.. since I’m too short to be eligible to fly planes, then post as one lor, better than nothing =X

Our Complains Are Heard

After one week, the many concerns that are raised were finally tackled today. This is mainly due to our SP lecturers are around le. So having taken note of our feedback, especially about the food served by the hotel’s restaurant, our agent fought with the hotel and managed to get refund for us. This means we can use the refund money to have our dinner outside the restaurant!

Virus Attack

Ok, This is totally Crappy and I really can’t stop vulgars from flying out of my mouth. Having typed out the past few days nicely, we decided to go to this china printing shop to print out the Microsoft words. Ok, they do not have vista version never mind, so I converted it to the normal Microsoft document. But what the hell, seriously what the hell, they charge me for RMB 1 for one piece of paper and they gave me virus in my thumb drive! MANURE! In the end, my laptop detect the virus and deleted all the folders in my thumb drive plus the past few posts I’ve written till the late night yesterday as well as my work place notes! I’ve stayed up late for nothing! And all my last semester school work were gone! Seriously is like what the hell. Sorry that the past few post look super short… this is because the 3 posts I’ve written is totally gone! And it’s very irritating to type it out again. 3 days of long post, especially Day 9 one is very eventful and exciting.

Mango Moose Pocky

Drooling? =P hahas… it is damn nice sia! Here in china supermarket, you can find lots of different flavor of pocky. Will try out the other flavor soon =D

Gonna Be FAT =S

Day 10 15th Sept 2009 Tues

F.A.T

As many of our ‘supply ‘ in the hotel is running out, we decided to walk 20 minutes to the nearby supermarket after dinner.

Look at what my partner and I has bought for ourselves! Hahas… please don’t be shock =X

Want to the the total cost of such foodies and necessities? Hahas… besides my partner and I, we shared it with Dawn and her guy. So in total it turned out to be RMB 200++

Just look at the superb long receipt!

We were rather shocked also.. I think we all have this mentality that since the food here is cheaper than Singapore (which is really the case for majority of the food here) we decided to take a little bit of here and there. In the end.. hahas… so you guys already knew the outcome liao right? Based on the previous photos i’ve taken with my room partner.

After shopping, we decided to have our Portuguese egg tarts from KFC again. It is just so SIMPLY irresistible!

By the way, all the stalls in the shopping mall closes at 8pm! Before 8, all the staffs were already packing up at 7.30pm… at eight on the dot, there is this recess bell and all the staff walk out of the building together. Can somewhat sense the difference between SG and China working style? At 7pm, all the street side shops are already close le. So we do not have much opportunity to shop after work during the weekday.

A Day At the Lake =)

Day 9 14th Sept 2009 Mon

Yes, I can feel the Romance

This is the famous lake in Jiamusi that we went. Can you feel the romance? I feel that it is a good place for family, friends, elderly and couples to go to. Somehow, reminded me of Singapore River, but ah well, here is much better than SG. See my photos!

Dawn bought balloons for each of the four girls. Very kind of her. Hahas..actually all the balloons are lovely! Hahas.. Dawn gave me a Minnie mouse balloon, Jane a SpongeBob, Sue-Ann a pooh bear and she bought for herself a doraemon.

BBQ meat anyone?

After dinner, the group of us went to the back alley again to try out their local food. There’s actually a lot of local food there, or rather their street side food. We settled down in one of the BBQ meat restaurant. We ordered this BBQ beef which was fantastic! BBQ mutton which was chewy, BBQ chicken wing which is rather burnt. Lastly, the much awaited dish, BBQ quails! The guys simply love the taste of the quails, but for the girls we find it rather disgusting. Maybe we were not use to the taste… for me, I find the taste rather weird. Hahas.
